upgrade VMware composer 2.7.0 fails 7 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
I tried to upgrade VMware View 4.6 to VMware View 5.0. As a final step I had to upgrade on the virtual center server the composer component. Unfortunately the upgrade fails without any relevant errors.

In the eventviewer I did found something relevant:

The Vstor2 UFA Virtual Storage Driver service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.

Somehow during the upgrade the installer deletes the directory: Crogram Files (x86)Common FilesVMwareVMware Universal File Access

But because the registry key isn't deleted, the installer doesn't try to install the files and the setup fails.

The solution is to delete the registry key:

HKLMsystemCurrentControlSetservicesvstor2-ufa

Then reboot the server. After the reboot you should be able to install the composer component.
